PMP – Perceptual Motor Program

PMP – Perceptual Motor Program

All children in the Foundation year take part in our Perceptual Motor Program which is held three times a week on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. There are 4 activities set up using equipment and the children spend 5 minutes at each activity. All activities are done by all the children at each session.

The activities involve specific gross and fine motor skills covering locomotion, balance, directionality, jumping, hopping, skipping, memory games, fitness and eye/hand and eye/foot co-ordination.

At each PMP session, one activity is evaluated and the children’s results recorded.

Language follow up sessions are then done in the classroom. Language development is a critical outcome of the program.

All these skills prepare the children for formal learning and reading readiness.
