PE

All CPPS students participate in 60 minutes of Physical Education each week. They also have:

  • The Daily Fitness Program conducted by our Senior Student Leaders for everyone in Year 1 to 6.
  • A weekly one hour senior Sport session for students in Year 3 / 4 / 5 / 6.
  • The PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) for Foundation Students for 3 sessions each week.

The Physical Education Program aims to focus on fun, fitness and friendship whilst building skills to participate in a range of activities ranging from individual or non-competitive games through to competitive team games. Emphasis is placed on combining motor skills and tactical knowledge to improve individual and team performance. Students learn simple rules and procedures and the importance of using equipment safely and confidently. Students are encouraged to develop the 5 Cs – Care, Common Sense, Consideration, Co-operation and respectful Communication though participating in PE.

Swimming lessons are conducted at the local Crib Point Pool at the end of each year for all year levels.

CPPS is part of the Crib Point Primary Schools Sports Association within School Sport Victoria. School based Carnivals in swimming, cross-country, athletics and triathlon are held to select students to represent the school at District level. All Year 4 / 5 / 6 students participate in winter sport (with a choice of softball, volleyball, netball, soccer and football) and summer sport (with a choice of softball, volleyball, cricket rounders or bat tennis). These can all lead to opportunities to compete at Divisional, Regional, State and National levels individually or as part of our school team.
