STEM CHALLENGE: Stop Motion Movies
This term the 3/4s have looked at animal features and adaptations with a focus on the dinosaurs of the Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods. Their STEM challenge was to combine what they have learnt throughout the term and create a stop motion movie. They started production of their movies by taking literally hundreds of photos that were then imported to iMovie for final editing. This is just one of the incredible end products by John and Robbie.

iSea iCare: Swimming with the Dolphins
Today Lexi, Indie, Bernie and Amanda travelled down to Sorrento Pier to board ‘Moonraker’ for an amazing afternoon on Port Phillip Bay for the iSea, iCare program with the Dolphin Research Institute. We were so fortunate to have the opportunity to snorkel alongside pods of dolphins and the Australian fur seal colony at Chinaman’s Hat. While we were there, a huge stingray swam underneath us and the seals were super curious; swimming around and underneath the snorkellers.
We spent time at Pope’s Eye looking for more seals and the gannet colony while warming up with hot chocolate and donuts.
Charlie and The War Against Grannies
Today, our grades 1-6 had the privilege of being thoroughly entertained with live music, shadow puppets, and some really smelly farts as we watched and laughed out loud as the live stage performance of Charlie and the War Against Grannies, based on Alan Brough’s children’s novel of the same name, unfloded at Arts Centre Melbourne.
With the weather so wonderful and a little spare time on the agenda before we needed to hop on the bus and head back to school, we were able to make was an extra special stop.
Annual Science Fair
Students from the 5/6 area all participated in the annual Science Fair on Friday 2nd of November. The Science Fair is a wonderful opportunity for students to not only see what other schools are doing in their Science/STEM programs, but to also show case what we are doing. This year we presented our digital portfolios we made using our digital microscopes. All students had a chance to supervise our stall. Special well done goes to Thomas, Lauren, Noah, Taya and Ollie for presenting to 200 students in the auditorium. As always our students represented our school with respect, courtesy and enthusiasm.

Students from the 5/6 area attended the Kids Teaching Kids program on Thursday the 6th down at the Quarantine Station at the Point Nepean National Park. They gave a presentation on how schools can reduce their carbon footprint with a variety of recycling and reusing programs. As always, our students behaved beautifully and represented their school perfectly. Well done to all involved!

5/6 excursion to Point Nepean
Year 5/6 students commemorated Remembrance Day by visiting Fort Nepean at the Point Nepean National Park. The weather was perfect and the children learnt a lot about the fort’s history. At 11AM we held our minutes silence after listening to the last post at the Quarantine Station. As always our children behaved brilliantly and represented their school with honour.
