Welcome
We are an amazing school located in the tranquil setting of Crib Point on 4.8 hectares of land. Here you will find contemporary education facilities in a rural setting. We lead by example in caring deeply for all our students and our community.
As a staff, we spend much time looking at the future world that each of our students are going to be heading into. To help us prepare our students for that world, we have a strong commitment to Inquiry Learning. This approach helps to deepen our student’s understanding, encouraging them to become critical and creative thinkers, who are able to collaborate and communicate with each other, to develop a strong sense of character while becoming global citizens and to enjoy a productive, rewarding and fulfilling life.
Although we have a strong emphasis on Numeracy and Literacy, our staff are dedicated to the whole wellbeing of the child, not just their academic performance. Each day, we meet every student and teach to their point of need, and it is for this reason that we have dedicated Literacy and Numeracy teachers who run small groups for extension and also intervention. We teach with “I can” statements in every year level for achieving a whole school approach to our Numeracy program. We have class libraries in every classroom to enhance our independent reading. To encourage and nurture a greater enjoyment of reading, we have just invested in new take-home readers, guided reading books and the students are able to enjoy a beautifully renovated school library.
We have a close relationship with the Cerberus Navy Base and have a fabulous Defence School Mentor (DSM) who run various vital transition programs for our ADF students, and together with our wonderful school chaplain, and incredible onsite school psychologist, there are more friendly faces around our school.
We provide an engaging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) program with a dedicated STEM teacher. We have 1:1 school supplied laptop ratios in every classroom as well as 1:2 ratios of iPads, and to further extend this, we have taken the leap and launched into the world on robotics and 3D printers and are excited about what our students have produced. We have also dedicated teaching in Art, Music, Physical Education, French and Library.
We are fortunate to host a wonderful Before and After School Care program on site, run by Camp Australia and this truly makes life a lot easier for parents. Our free breakfast club, which has been hugely successful runs every morning, five days a week and our school canteen offers delicious snacks and lunches, twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. Although great fun, school playgrounds are in a unique position to meet kids where they are, helping them become smarter, healthier and stronger through play. Late last year we completed our new sensory and wellbeing senior playground and have recently renovated our junior playground.
“No Limits”, a speech program that we started four years ago, as pilot program and through the incredible of a dedicated team, this pilot program was upscaled to include, not only CPPS but 4 other local primary schools and 5 kinders. This work has had a tremendous impact on not only our students in the area of oral language, but in other areas as well. So much of the positive change that has occurred over the past few years was based on the learning and understandings we gained from our involvement with “No Limits”. With this exciting initiative, we have a speech pathologist working with our foundation students once a fortnight.
I invite you to come and get a sense of our school at any time of the day, any day of the week and you will discover what a school in educational action looks and feels like and feel the warm, friendly school community
